About this property

Welcome to Queens Hotel

Queens Hotel is a sea-view property located in Paignton, just a short three-minute walk from the seafront and close to local attractions such as Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves. The hotel’s setting offers easy access to the beach, train station, and town centre, making it convenient for visitors seeking both relaxation and exploration.

This traditional, family-run hotel provides casual and comfortable accommodation with a focus on practicality rather than modern luxury. Rooms are described as clean and well maintained, though some guests note that they are small and a bit dated. Accessible options are available, and the hotel features amenities such as free Wi-Fi, free parking, an indoor pool with a booking system, room service, and kid-friendly facilities. The presence of nightly entertainment leans toward a mature clientele, though the atmosphere is generally welcoming.

Dining receives positive remarks, with several guests praising the quality and variety of meals prepared by the chef, alongside attentive and friendly staff service. Breakfast is included with options for paid additional meals. While the hotel does not offer air conditioning or pet-friendly rooms, it does provide beach access, a restaurant, bar, and airport shuttle service.

Overall, Queens Hotel suits visitors looking for a straightforward seaside stay with family-friendly touches and communal entertainment. It is particularly noted for its welcoming service and location, though prospective guests should consider the traditional style and smaller room sizes when booking. Parking can be limited during busy times, and those sensitive to noise might request quieter rooms away from entertainment areas.

I'll be honest in this review. I'm end of life and disabled so we got a ground floor room. It would have helped if the bathroom was a wet room but you can see that it's a lot of work for that to happen so they are trying their best. There are hand rails in the loo and even though it's small it's about the right size for moving about. We had a triple room which was a double bed and single bed. Husband and I slept separately due to his height he was more comfy on the single bed. The entertainment is as if you are on a cruise. That does not mean it's rubbish it's just if it's your cup of tea. Back to the room and no air con but there are windows so can't complain. TV in the room as well as a lot of plug outlets and USB outlets. They are right by the bed for charging phones very handy. I could not get down the steps to the restaurant so they brought the food to us. I cannot fault the staff at all. Even with almost a full hotel, they treat you as an individual and went above and beyond in my opinion. Everyone has different experiences but give this place a go. It's worth it and good food.

The Queens Hotel, Paignton I would say the Queens is a traditional 3 star seaside hotel, which from our experience is more tailored to mature than younger guests. On a few occasions, some coach parties have stayed here, which helps to improve the overall atmosphere, especially during dinner and the evening entertainment. Location: - The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the railway, bus station and beach. - Rating: 5/5 Rooms: - The rooms are clean & comfortable. - Rating: 4/5 Service: - All the staff are very friendly - Rating: 5/5 Entertainment: - Depending on when you stay, there could be a singer, magician or comedian. - During my last stay there was a singer, who also played the guitar - Also, if there are enough guests, they also arrange bingo. - Rating: 5/5 Food: - Breakfast: - They serve Continental & Full English - Rating: 4/5 Dinner: - Depending on the day you stay, the menu varies. - Starter, Main, Dessert, followed by Coffee & Mints - Rating: 4/5 Price paid for HalfBoard - For what’s included, I would say the prices are reasonable. - Rating: 4/5 Additional Information: - Sometimes the lift hasn’t been operational, which can be a challenge if you have mobility issues. - Due to the size of the swimming, If you want to use it, you need to book it in advance. Overall Hotel Rating: 4/5

Went away for a complete get away from it all break from the hassle and bustle of everyday life. This hotel provided exactly what I wanted. l Picked the queens hotel by accident. An older character hotel with loads of charm. Close to the beach 3 min walk. Booked half board which was very reasonable. Free parking but carpark is limited. Positives Cleanliness- Immaculate Booking in - slick and easy Comfort/ room - beds really comfortable. Room warm heated by radiator. Clean smelling and well maintained. Gives a real home from home feel. Dog friendly room.- A bit of an issue as were given a non dog friendly room initially. I had to change rooms not an issue as Errors happen , but, I was not impressed with attitude of the duty manager who was intent on being offensive and trying to cause an argument, blaming me for not mentioning I had a dog. Holding a lead attached to a dog carrying a dog bed wasn't a big enough hint. I wasn’t going to rise to his goading and happily changed rooms. This incident didn’t detract from the amazing stay we had though I just avoided him. Staff- this hotel should be proud of its staff, (with the exception of one.) They were all happy, polite, chatty and made me and my grandson feel very welcome. They couldn’t do enough to make our stay memorable. A Special mention to our waitress Angela who was outstanding nothing was too difficult for her and she went above and beyond to accommodate our preferences. Always with a smile. Food - i booked half board. They have a top rated chef. Well that’s the impression I got. The meals were excellent and exceptional. Chefs menus were varied and wholesome and were really tasty. Chef should be proud of the meals produced. I have never tasted gravy like chef made. If I could give some advice. Make more of it, package it and sell it. If I could rate the food I’d give it 15 out of 10. And recommend everyone to have a meal here. Housekeeping. - Reception manager was helpful and welcoming very professional. House keeping were amazing working tirelessly in the background without impacting the guests. Pool- operates a booking in system for an hour at a time. Poolside changing area towels from reception. Small pool but adequate to splash around. Entertainment. - a close magician was amazing. I was trying to catch him out but he was too good. A singer who played cards with the guests rather than sing. But played music so we could play dominoes. Turned out to be a really enjoyable evening. Bar.- a well stocked bar reasonably priced. Very relaxed atmosphere Negative Other than the obnoxious duty manager there are no negatives but it did rain. Would I stay again. - Too right I will. it was one of the most memorable and relaxing breaks I have ever had. I’d recommend everyone to stay here and I’ll be back in the summer.

Went with group of 20. Welcome excellent, bedroom spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable, small and dated but everything we needed was there, plenty of hot water. Suited us. Hotel spacious, comfortable and warm. Swimming pool booking arrangements worked well. I used it 3 times on 3 night stay. Entertainment exactly what we wanted, bingo & live singer, music to dance too. Food and service was outstanding. Everyone wants to return again. Exceptional value for money.

Just returned from a weekend break here and had a fantastic weekend. Out group have been holding similar weekends for the last 26 years and have stayed in hotels all over the South West. I have to say, the food we had here at The Queen's is, without a doubt, the best food we have had at any hotel. There was plenty of choice, you didn't need to pre-book, portions were generous, it was very well presented, and the quality was exceptional. The service was also really good. The room was ok - not the best we have had being a bit small and dated, but the bed was comfortable, and there were all the facilities we needed. Bar is a very good size, and we made good use of the Pool room. I didn't use the swimming pool but others in our group did. It looked clean and of a good size though. Hotel is well located close to seafront, town centre, and railway station. There was car parking too.

Hotel is a traditional seaside one. It has old school decor but it’s a solidly good hotel that is value for money. Breakfasts were good. Room was clean and tidy. Staff were lovely. Bar was big and welcoming. They do have entertainment so be careful to ask for a quiet room if you aren’t into the entertainment. Parking at the hotel is a bit tight with not enough spaces for busy nights. Location is very good, 5 mins to the beach.
